Video 1
This story focuses on a UNC junior who has recently struggled with shifting to a gluten free diet. In the video, Logan Dutka makes her go-to lunch, which is nachos, for a weekday. Maintaining a gluten free diet heavily impacts her life as she has to be conscious about what ingredients she is buying and plans meals in advance. As an athlete, Logan has to manage staying well-fed with increased prices and difficulty planning out meals. I conducted the interview, filmed B-roll footage, and edited the video for a MEJO 121 project. It was my first time working with lighting, visuals, and audio for a video piece.
Tarheels.live Site
During my first MEJO class, (121) Intro to Digital Storytelling, I created a website using Tarheels.live through WordPress. This taught me valuable digital design skills and gave me experience working with this software. The first two pages were centered around my next project, which was a video with edits, transitions, and B-roll footage.
Video 2
This is my second video piece for MEJO 121 and I felt more comfortable at this point with crafting a story arc, filming, and editing the video. It focuses on Graysen Pinder, a direct admit to the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC. Pinder first entered the entrepreneurship world with her passion for baking throughout her childhood. She had her own business called Gimme Some Shugga and competed on Children Baking Championship. Pinder discusses her first semester experience in her business class, and the project she is currently working on. Graysen was a great interview subject to work with, allowing me to have more creative influence through the filming and editing process.
HTML Coding
Here is my custom-coded HTML site, crafted in Visual Studio Code as part of my MEJO 121 class. This is a facsimile of my first Tarheels.live site. This project allowed me to dive into the art of coding, thoughtfully curate design elements, and experience the rewarding process of building a website from the ground up.
Writing Portfolio
This webpage contains my high school writing portfolio from my four years writing for the school newspaper, Rampant Lines. Since my first article, I have had a passion for human interest feature writing and love to shine a light on others stories. Using the raw emotion felt in my interviews, I was able to produce many stories I am proud of over my high school career.
